CSR with The Impact Africa Foundation
In November, we also accompanied one of our patrons, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele on his annual outreach programme to mentor students Abolarin School in Osun State.
This edition of Tax180 took take place on the 1st of November, 2019. It focused primarily on the analysis of tax policies specific to different industry groups in the Nigerian Economy.
In October 2019, we hosted Mr. Chijioke Odo, the Global Trade Advisory Lead at Deloitte. He facilitated a session on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).
Tax Goes to School / CSR
In April, we visited the Federal Government Unity School, Osogbo, Osun State and spoke on “Tax Compliance, Civic Education.
With the aid of our patron, Mr. Wale Ajayi, we also donated scientific calculators, bags, jotters, shirts, a printer / photocopier to the school's computer library
Tax Incubators are our semi-monthly meetings that last 2 hours. We allow 45 minutes for a presentation on a topic in taxation and another 45 for general discussion on a practical scenario. We have recorded attendance from:
- Osun State Internal Revenue Service
- Nigerian Tax Research Network
We had 100% Classes once in a month to develop business skills in our members.
We had sessions focused on developing skills such as the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Email Marketing, Networking, CV Drafting and acing the recruitment assessment.
The Tax Walk '19
Inspired by our interest in contributing to Tax Compliance in Nigeria, we partnered with The Osun State Internal Revenue Service which was facilitated by The Board Secretary - Mrs. Falomo. We were also coached on the best practices for Tax Advocacy by the information team led by Mr. Babalola.
The Walk was at Orisumbare Market, Osogbo. We spoke with individuals about compliance and shared flyers detailing the locations of tax authorities.
We also made videos on views on compliance and government accountability.
Learning and Development
In furthering our interests in learning, research and development, we were able to launch our website, mobile application and also participate in a number of training sessions by the most reputable tax bodies in Nigeria. These include;

- Better Tax Initiative....
On the 25th of November, 2017, The Tax Club, OAU in collaboration with KPMG brought “Oil Money” to Ile Ife. It’s not what you’re thinking, we still haven’t found oil in Osun State but… after that experience, we’re close.
Tax180: The Conference
At Tax 180, our “HR Day” on Friday 7th had three objectives— to expose internship opportunities, graduate recruitment opportunities and overall work-life at the firm. We listened intently to HR from PwC and Taxaide. On Saturday the 8th we had a wide range of keynote speakers take quick-fire sessions on their respective topics. We had six sessions in all; handled by Dr. Joshua Bamfo (Andersen Tax), Adeyemi Adegun (EY), Oluseye Arowolo (Deloitte), Akinwale Alao (KPMG), Onyechukwu Onyegide (Drudge Consulting) and Obamiji Olamide (Olaniwun Ajayi).
We also split undergraduates from various universities into four faculties— personal tax, corporation tax, transactional tax, and international tax- to discuss issues in taxation. We were joined by The Tax Clubs at the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, University of Nigeria and University of Ilorin.
Lastly, Rodl & Partner was able to conduct an on-site Recruitment test for our final year students.
